Research
Sensoria's research philosophy is rooted in neurophenomenology, which bridges the gap between subjective experiences and objective neurological frameworks. This approach emphasizes the importance of first-person accounts in understanding consciousness.
This outlines the organization's commitment to ethical and responsible research, driven by the belief that a deeper understanding of consciousness can improve mental health outcomes and mitigate existential risks. Sensoria's approach to consciousness research is unique in its focus on creating natural environments for participants to explore altered states of consciousness, drawing inspiration from the age-old tradition of exploring consciousness at festivals and social gatherings. This is referred to as “Research in the Wild.”
To capture data from Research in the Wild, Sensoria is building tools that help record and characterize the nuance and variance of non-ordinary states, incentivizing and formalizing the field of psychonautics. With this newfound data, we can begin to create a neurophenomenological map, elucidating the mechanisms of the brain-mind interface.
